She comments on breakup
Instagram followers.
Got to know a lot of people in secondary school. People would follow me to stay connected.
I once posted a picture of a ceiling; I’d gain 500 followers in a week, get 25,000 Instagram story views.
I was approached by blogshops for sponsorships. I don’t like talking about it. “Influencer” had a bad name. Now, I’m pickier with brands I work with. My followers have slowed growing, I don’t have a “niche”. It doesn’t bother me.
It’s given me opportunities. Worked with Seek, Sephora, G-Shock (with Shane), Asics. I don’t see it as my career.
Posting.
I don’t care if my friends have social status, won’t post someone just because we have the same “brand”. I don’t think I’m a role model. I’d like to think I post whatever I want, but they go through filters. I probably wouldn’t post my friend pointing their middle finger. I don’t openly express my views.
Sheng The Rapper.
When I first saw it, I laughed.
My school posted a picture of him. When he came down, he rapped, did a fan-meet. His dad followed him to it. I’m sure he was protecting his son; he’s still in secondary school. That was screwed up. Everyone’s just piling on him because his videos are trendy. (Watch them here.)
His posts are full of comments, even from big influencers, making fun of him. I shared a screenshot of my friend’s opinion, but didn’t add anything. If I did my DM’s would be flooded, I don’t have time to reply.
I think he thinks people actually like his music. I don’t think he’s aware.
Shane Tan.
We knew of each other through social media. People in my school would say he’s handsome. Met through mutual friends. Developed feelings, told him I wanted to wait after my exams.
We never once had a conversation of tagging each other to improve our numbers on social media. We simply posted our relationship because we wanted to.
There were a lot of rumours blown out of proportion about our breakup.
Sonia IRL.
I don’t notice it but friends have said people suck up to me. In school my best friend once told me that after someone talked to me she told her friends she couldn’t believe we talked. I want to believe people are genuine.
Do people use Instagram for fun or function?
If they could use it for function, most would.
