I buy Instagram followers

An acquaintance classmate once whispered, “People think you buy followers.” I chuckled.

I don’t. I do, however, obsessively like people’s photos/videos; follow random people with cool/hot content; moderate who I follow. I also use an app that tracks unfollows.

I’m in the “Holy Trinity”

My close friend recently shared that our school seniors call me, her, and another close friend the “Holy Trinity.” When we heard the name, we laughed and laughed.

We’re not in a religious cult. I guess we got nicknamed that because we’re always having fun after class. They’re some of my closest friends.

I’m not Singaporean

Here’s a video of me briefly speaking:

People have asked if I’m Indonesian, Hong Kongese, Thai… or if I’ve studied abroad. I’m admittedly not the most quintessentially Singaporean, but I’m 100% local Chinese. My dialect is Cantonese.

As a kid, I picked up English from books and movies. At the end of primary school, my teacher jokingly clarified to my classmates: “You might think Marcus sounds weird; he’s actually pronouncing words right.”

I’m super shy / an extrovert

I just took the quiz:

Previously, I’ve always gotten INFP. Friends are 50/50 on whether I’m more introverted than extroverted. I’m have phases. I personally think I’m an ambivert, but not choosing sounds like a cop-out. A friend recently said: “You’re not afraid to talk to people, but you’re introspective.” I like that!

Why I share

When I started blogging, I didn’t expect to share (other people’s) salacious secrets. A mix of anti-narcissism and curiosity in others, I steered from sharing about myself. Amidst an amazing support group of DMs, I’ve received constructive feedback:

Longer posts means: sharing juicier details of my chats with friends; presenting differently, i.e. longform posts versus Q&A; personal opinions.

I hear you.
