Remember?

Parag0n fans were quick to point out similarities between he and his “copycat”’s style, with the phrase “Parag0n cosplay.” Skeptics questioned Parag0n’s originality claims.

Parag0n’s “copycat,” Bryan, shares his thoughts on the accusations.

Your style.

My old clothes didn’t look cool. Friends were shopping trendy. Hypebeast culture was new. Considered studying fashion design, ended up in mass communication. The trend moved into vintage. I get bored easily, change quickly. Started buying runway pieces.

Then I discovered Eejin.

Eejin is…

Very on-trend, bold, exclusive, considered, wears his DIY clothing. Shows up at events, does own shoots. Has a genuine interest in brands, so he catches onto runway trends faster than Singapore youths.

He’ll always be two steps ahead. He’s still a Hypebeast.

His base following was from photography. It helped the fashion.

I wondered if his on and offline persona would be the same: loud in dressing, reserved in person.

Are you inspired by Eejin?

I look up to celebrities outside Singapore more. I think of him in context of Singapore’s landscape. I’ve liked some of his pieces, never his whole outfits.

Did you copy Eejin?

The hoodie and shoes were because of colours. Many have worn the hoodie: it’s Ian Connor’s, A$AP Rocky in support, random Japanese and Korean streetwear brands had similar imagery. I’d just gotten the pants from @revivederrick: denim hand-dyed with enzymes and rust.

I was shocked when you (@marcuzzzy) said you were going to use my picture. I see similarities. I took the photo first, just posted it later.

The comments were irritating.

Some took my side. He takes major inspiration from others: A$AP Rocky, Ian Connor and Luka Sabbat, etc.

He dresses to inspire, but get affected when people are inspired. His mom wears Comme; did he copy her?

I considered taking down the photo.

He claimed I bought his shirt and said I made it. That’s false.

Is Eejin top influencer?

There are definitely people in the same league as him, he just has more followers. Some have great minimal style, you can’t judge someone’s fashion knowledge from their style.

He wants to be at the top of the streetwear community, doesn’t want anyone to level him. I don’t think he cares about his followers. If he were in Harajuku, at Paris Fashion Week, no one would care.

After I stopped recording…

We continued chatting about Eejin. We were equally curious about what each other thought of him. This surfaced: could Parag0n’s fans be Eejin in disguise?

The following claims made are based on circumstantial evidence and opinion. This article was shared with Eejin prior to mass sharing to avoid misinterpretation that it is a hit piece. He is welcome to respond on this platform and others.

On left: Eejin’s telegram profile. His username reads XXX [username redacted upon Eejin’s request].

On right: A spam account with the username XXX (the same username as Eejin’s telegram) that posts “hate” on Bryan’s Instagram. Bryan claims the account used to be followed by Eejin; not anymore.

On left: Bryan posted this image on his IG Stories, asking for help.

On right: The next day, Eejin posted an image of the same pants with the caption “Here, take it.” Eejin does not follow Bryan on Instagram.

Who is XXX? Was Eejin’s post in response to Bryan’s?
